The purpose of this study was to obtain perceptions of technology education teachers in the Minnesota Technology Education Association about health and safety training in their current employment. All teachers participating in this study had an active membership is the state association and are currently teaching in a public school. The study explored what safety training programs are available in the public schools that would increase the health and safety competency level of the teacher in a technology education laboratory as well as the students being taught within that curriculum. A survey was used to gather information from the members of the MTEA. Data was collected, analyzed, and reported. The research data determined that technology education teachers received some safety training through their current employer, but more emphasis is needed to provide a safer and less hazardous environment within technology education laboratories. Further studies are recommended to determine the effectiveness of the training.
