Correlation between self-efficacy and self-esteem in students

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between self-efficacy and self-esteem in students. Historical framework was based on Alfed Bandura and Mark Sherer’s research. Data was collected on the research areas of self-efficacy and self-esteem theories and the role of education on self-efficacy and self-esteem and education’s affect on students. Data analysis was constructed by use of the Pearson r coefficient and t-tests. The research data collected found that the only statistically significant difference was found on self-esteem and gender, with males having a significantly higher overall score on self-esteem than females. Further study is recommended to determine effects of self-esteem enhancement programs for females.
