    Abstract
Music is inherently mathematical. The intervals between notes in a scale, a chord, the timing between notes in a rhythm, repetitions and variations of musical themes and the organization of phrases in a piece can all be described mathematically. This project investigated a new method for automatically generating melodies. It used a combination of random selection based on mathematical number sequences.
