    Abstract
This study examined metaphors and the effect the method of presentation as well as the metaphor type had on their understanding in kindergarten, second, and fourth graders. Participants were presented with both transparent and opaque metaphors in three different conditions: a with-context condition, a with-picture condition, or no-context, no-picture condition.
