    Abstract
As a group, minnows (Family Cyprinidae) possess an unusual ability to detect pheromones released from nearby fish injured or consumed by predators. This research found evidence of a strong age-specific alarm response in creek chub (a cyprinid fish) exposed to conspecific alarm odors.
