Attitudes Toward Language Variation and the Liberal Arts.
Abstract
In this pilot study, we empirically assess students' attitudes with respect to several myths of English usage in the United States, including the myths that language use reflects a speaker's intelligence and that only certain groups of people have dialects, among others.
