Professional Education Programs
WISCAPE operates under the belief that both the individual and the institution benefit when leaders bridge the structural and cultural boundaries between units and schools. An individual benefits by developing a more textured understanding of his or her role as a leader, while institutions benefit from the collective strength of a well-informed work force. Unfortunately, the very nature of many administrators’ jobs makes it difficult for campus leaders to take the time to forge these important connections. WISCAPE professional education courses help to bridge these organizational gaps by providing a forum where people from UW-Madison and other Wisconsin campuses can come together to discuss their work. Aimed at current and prospective leaders, courses are led by guest instructors who have demonstrated exemplary leadership abilities. Rather than focusing on narrow skill-sets, these courses are designed to integrate participants’ understanding of leadership and management challenges with best practices and current research trends.
