[Some time ago my daughter asked me to assemble a bookshelf which she had bought. The instructions were in Danish, and there were many pieces to fit together. I wrote this piece and put it on the net. It was picked up by the Stavanger Aftenblad which published an article on it in the issue of March 13, 1995. For more information see the newspaper article, if you can read Norwegian.]
My daughter asked me if I would assemble a bogreol which she had bought. It came in a nice carton, and looked fairly easy to do if I followed the generel instruktion, so I agreed. It told me first to abnes the kartonerne på gulvet, so I got on the gulvet and did so. It declared that I should laes samlevejledingen igennem, which is always good advice. And it stressed in the strongest terms saet aldrig dyvler i siderne på emnerne!! Never would I treat my dyvler thus! Am I a demonic being?
I had to saet the dyvlerne i de store huller. I always appreciate store huller. Much easier to handle, don't you know. And I got the skruerne in ved hjaelp af umbraconøglen. (Does that ø give you a hønt of what is gøing on here?) I was very happy to have umbraconøglen. I think everyone should have a good selection of umbraconøglen, and probably they should be provided free by the government.
I then carefully put the daekknapper into the skruerne. It greatly improved their appearance. I was then instructed to vend rammen med bagsiden opad. Vend rammen presents no problem at all, but I always get a little nervous when anything is bagsiden opad. It just doesn't seem right somehow. Anyway I screwed my courage to the sticking point and anbrought the bagbeklaedningerne appropriately. I rejsed the reolen op, anbrought the hyldebaernerne og skub hylderne ind på plads, and lo and behold a beautiful bogreol!
I was so proud!
